April 1st, 2001 - MSWTC charter granted in Seoul, Korea

 

August 2001 - Executive Director hired. Orientation/training held in New York City


September 2001 - Board of Directors officially named

 

February 2002 - First Mississippi World Trade Center board meeting.


May 2002 - Governor Musgrove and MSWTC Board of Directors officially open the MSWTC at a packed-house press conference

 

September 2004 MSWTC hosts the International Business Certification Program "Taking on the World"

 

March 2005 - Hosts "Lighting the Way" Conference for Women in Industry and International Trade

 

November 2006 - Celebrats 5 years of service at the annual meeting and luncheon 

 

2007 - MSWTC holds first annual Young Artists Global Showcase Mississippi High School Art Competition

 

March 2008 - MSWTC hosts an Exposition with the Thai Trade Center Miami

 

February 2009 - MSWTC hosts the "Exporting to the Middle East and North Africa" Seminar

 

May 2009 - MSWTC is awarded Blue Level Certification by the World Trade Center Association

 

April 2009 - MSWTC develops the WTC Institute (501 C-3) with the purpose of providing education, training, and technical assistance to the Mississippi World Trade Center’s international cultural development and tourism committee’s programs.

 

October 2009- MSWTC hosts International Trade and Small Business Conference for Women and Minorities

 

February 2010 - MSWTC hosts the Delta Export Seminar

 

June 2010 - MSWTC hosts the Certified Global Business Professional Training and Exam Prep

 

October 2010 - MSWTC presents an International Food and Wine Festival 

 

June 2011 - MSWTC hosts Global Entrepreneur Training

 

August 2011 - MSWTC goes to Mexico on Business Develpment Mission

 

November 2011 - MSWTC 10th Anniversary celebration

 

February 2012 - MSWTC hosts Foreign Trade Zone Seminar

 

January 2013- MSWTC becomes a founding partner of the WTC Mississippi River Alliance, an organization that unites key stakeholders and businesses that rely on the Mississippi River.

 

April 2013 - MSWTC presents Multi-Modal Transport: Cornerstone of the Global Economy - Intermodal Transportation Conference 

 

2013 - MSWTC achieves Silver Level Certification

 

October 2014 - MSWTC hosts "Lessons for Doing Global Business" seminar

 

April 2015 - MSWTC represents Mississippi at the World Trade Center Member Seminar in Manila, Philippines

 

May 2015 - MSWTC hosts Global Business Leadership Program with talks on trade in Cuba 

 

May 2016 -MSWTC hosts the 16th annual Gulf Coast Trade Alliance exploring the opportunities in markets across the globe with speakers from 7 different nations

 

Founding Partners

To unify efforts of stimulating international trade in Mississippi, the MSWTC was formed through a partnership between the Mississippi Development Authority and the Mississippi Partnership for Economic Development Services.

 

Other Important Parterships

The United States Department of Commerce International Trade Administration, the International Trade Clubs of Mississippi, the Mississippi District Export Council, BellSouth, the Mississippi Department of Transportation, the Mississippi Manufacturers Association, the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, and educational institutions from across the state. These ties allow the MSWTC to better connect state and regional governmental agencies with Mississippi-based member businesses involved in international trade.
